555 cigarettes remain the only variety

“Three Fives” is one of the oldest British brands that is present in active production to this day. And throughout its history, the magic symbol “555” really brought good luck. What kind of cigarettes are in front of you? What is the secret of success? Let’s find out below!

Luck accompanied the brand from the very beginning, although there were more “lucky” varieties, “777” for example. But “Three Sevens” has long been discontinued, and 555 cigarettes are still very popular.

Most often, modern 555 cigarettes are now produced at regional BAT plants. For example, our sample pack, with the barcode of Vietnam, was produced by the British American Tobacco factory in Singapore. But here, too, not without exceptions. So for China, with its own tobacco facilities, some varieties of 555 cigarettes are produced in England.

Initially, 555 cigarettes were one of the nine varieties of State Express, but over time, when the rest of the “brothers” was discontinued, “Three Fives” remained the only variety and began to be considered a separate brand. At the same time, the historical part of the name, State Express, remained literally “behind the scenes”. The new varieties were more commonly referred to as 555 Filter Kings, 555 Gold, or 555 Mandarin.

Most often, the design of regular issues is more or less traditional and corresponds to the British design of packs. But for this brand, it is not uncommon for the release of “limits”, such as our “Prestige Edition”, where the European symbol of good luck is also enhanced by the Asian dragon – the symbol of Yang, the good beginning of everything on earth.

What are 555 cigarettes? 555 cigarettes are packaged in traditional paper-based foil, only in our sample it is a bright blue “foil”. On the richly embossed tear-off label, you can see the traditional, historical spelling of the brand name – State Express Blend No. 555, fairly abbreviated in the design of the pack itself. The pack contains twenty king-size cigarettes with a completely ordinary acetate filter. The design of cigarettes, compared to the design of the pack, is not so bright – simple, but not ordinary. The blend is quite light, mainly consisting of fractions of yellow and light yellow, with rare dark yellow particles. Not rich, but traditional, because 555 cigarettes have always been a Virginia blend.
